In the 1970’s, I began my career working at Island Beach State Park as a Park Ranger. During those next three years of summer employment I realized my future was going to be in law enforcement. I attended Ocean County College and Stockton State College, while working at Seaside Heights Police Department as a Class 2 Police Officer. I also worked with the Division of Fish and Game as a Deputy Game Warden and enforced the states fish and game laws. After graduating from Stockton State College with a B.A. in Criminal Justice, I was accepted into the 102nd New Jersey State Police Class at Sea Girt. I graduated in 1985 and the following ten years I worked at Absecon, Red Lion and Bass River Stations, before being assigned to the Alcohol/Drug Testing Unit (ADTU).
While assigned to the ADTU, I was responsible for inspecting, certifying, repairing breath test instruments in various counties throughout N.J, as well as, instructing officers in breath testing operation and standardized field sobriety testing. After many years in the training unit, I was promoted and assigned to administrative duties at the Hamilton Technology Complex. The last few years of my career were spent as the Assistant Unit Head and then as Unit Head of the ADTU.
After a career of over thirty years in law enforcement, I retired. I had the great opportunity to meet and work with many law enforcement officers from different agencies including, Municipal, County, State Parks, DOD and the NJSP. I also had the good fortune to work with the staff and instructors of Ocean, Monmouth, Burlington, Atlantic, Cape May and Gloucester County Police Academies.
Since retirement, I have worked as a School Safety Officer/Investigator for multiple school districts. I have also worked during the summer as a Class II Special Police Officer in Ship Bottom Police Department. In 2015, I established my own security training company, CSP Security Officers Training LLC. This has allowed me to return to what I have enjoyed the most during my years working for the New Jersey State Police, Instructing and Mentoring.
If you are interested in attending a SORA Initial 2 Day Training Course or a SORA Recertification Class, please call or send me an email. I will be happy to explain the training course material and help you to get started on your new career in security.
